dutch indie rock: may bees drop international debut

It isn't about image. It isn't about entertainment. Great rock is about movement -- of the heart, the mind, the feet. The May Bees, a scrappy, uncompromising duo from The Netherlands, understand this instinctively. They want to make a good impression, sure, and they want to amuse and engage you. But mostly they want to move you, to change you, to leave an indelible mark upon you.

Fueled by the anthemic vox and guitars of Gregory Orange and the distinctive, powerhouse drumming of Marzj, their spirited onslaught evokes a battalion more than a duo. Calling to mind Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, Guided By Voices, Sonic Youth, Grandaddy, and Pedro the Lion -- apocalyptic rock-club thrash with a maple-syrup coating -- the May Bees are a raging two-headed pop monster, launching their salvos with melodic abandon at passion volume.

Their international debut, Drop Little Boy, is out this morning on Wampus Multimedia.

And just for today, tomorrow, and Sunday, it's $9.99 at CD Baby. You'll find sweet prices at iTunes and Amazon (check the Marketplace for Wampus direct), too.

Who loves ya?

In the Benelux -- Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, that is -- Wampus has licensed Drop Little Boy to Dying Giraffe Recordings, who release it this Monday.
